Extended Schools Programme

In response to new demands in the UK from the Extended Schools Initiative, we offer a range of fun and educational workshops to London Primary Schools.

Contemporary Circus reaches out to and empowers young people, creating change, generating confidence and giving them the opportunity to work within a broad range of community-based groups, free from the straight-jacket of social preconceptions.

The aim of our company's educational programmes is to enable young people to increase their confidence and self-esteem, and to assist them with the development of higher-level abilities in key cognitive and communication skills, such as: self-expression, problem solving, and self-discipline, in addition to taking responsibility for the pace and depth of their own learning.

These workshops help young people develop their understanding of the learning process; for example, through breaking down seemingly difficult tasks - such as juggling - into small, achievable steps, the students being to realise the method of learning more complex tasks. This process can be successfully applied to other areas of learning, developing the participants' confidence about their ability to learn and achieve, with the result that they are more likely to go on to access other forms of education and training.
