2009 Project History

  • September - December 2009 - Started a new program of recruitmentand training every Thursday, for the Astral project at the Bruce Grove Youth Centre in Haringey
  • December 2009 - Participated at the Tottenham Winter Wonderland
  • November 2009 - Workshop at Barnet College for people with learning disabilities
  • 19 September 2009 - First performance of the Stellar Show in which 15 youths from our new training program had their first steps in rehearsing, creating and performing for an audience together.
  • August 2009 - Summer workshops at Pastures Youths Centre
  • July 2009 - Workshops for Girlguiding UK, 17-19 Buckingham Palace Road
  • July 2009 - Participated at the Street Festival at Earls Court, London, as part of a regeneration program for the community.
  • June 2009 - Participated at the Open-Rehearsals for the Cultural Olympiad
  • 20 June 2009 - The volunteers from Centrepoint perfomed for the first time as paid artists for Cirque Nova Ltd at the Tottenham Festival 2009. See Pictures.
  • April - November 2009 - Part 2 of Stellar project, combining CentrePoint Youths with people with disabilities group at The Hangar in Woolwich.
  • 1 March 2009 - Performance of Penny Clapcott and Presentation of the Stellar project at the 2nd Nordic Circus Festival , in Arts Centre in Oslo - Norway .
  • 27 February 2009 - Performance of Director J.M. Akkerman doing Corde Lisse and Penny Clapcott  & Francisco Arango doing silks and diabolo combination act, at the Octopus Club for Heart 'n Soul At the Albany Theatre in Depford.
  • 10 & 18 March 2009 - Two Workshops for Haringey Shed Theatre Group at Bernie Grants Arts Centre.
  • 11 March - 10 May 2009 - Twelve week program of workshop for Duke of Edinburgh Program at Pastures Youth Centre in Waltham Forest.
  • 12 March - April 2009 - Program of workshops for Haringey Primary Schools, hulabaloo circus program.
  • 26 January - 27 April 2009 - Twelve week training program for CentrePoint and " 3 minute wonder " documentary, At Hoxton Hall  - London.
  • 29 January 2009 - Training for Stellar began at Circus Space's Creation Studio
  • November 2008 - Animations at the Tottenham Winter-wonderland 2008.
  • October 2008 - Recruitment and participation at the Open-Rehearsals for the Mayor of London & cultural Olympiad.
  • September 2008 - Performance at Liberty Festival in Trafalgar Square, London, first collaboration between Penny Clapcott and JM Akkerman as aerialists.
  • June 2008 - Animations at Fonthill Festival, Finsbury Park, London.
  • June 2008 - Animations at Tottenham Festival
  • April 2008 - Workshops for Arts & Care in Warwick, (do the right thing)
  • Summer 2007 - Set up as company Limited by Guarantee (Non-For-Profit) under management of Cirque Nova Ltd.
  • Spring 2007 - Invited at the Presentation of the Cultural Olympiad at the South Bank Centre.
